Course Details:

The TTPOA and Tiger Valley are hosting a 5 day 50 hour Rifle Instructor Class at Tiger Valley's training facility located 16 miles Northeast of Waco at Hwy. 84 & Joe Russell Rd.  This class is designed for those looking for skills in training others and improving their own shooting skills.  We will strive to cover areas needed by the law enforcement officer deploying with a semi-auto weapon system.   For further information on Range location, dates and times contact T.J.  Instrcutors: T.J. Pilling, Rick Cutler

T.J. Pilling has held assignments in Patrol, SWAT, Narcotics and Training with the Garland Police Dept. He has been a Precision Marksman for twenty-three years with SWAT, and has also served as senior instructor on the team. In the Training division, T.J. was assigned as Range Master and Firearms Instructor for the Police Department and held the position for seven years. During this time he hosted classes attended by State, Federal and Local Departments. He has instructed topics such as basic and advanced handgun, shotgun, subgun, precision rifle, concealed carry and tactics training.

Rick served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and M.O.U.T. (Mobile operations Urban Terrain) school instructor during Desert Shield and Desert Storm and also achieved the rank of N.C.O. Rick has been a police officer for the city of Irving Texas eighteen years and has been assigned to their full time tactical team for the past eleven years. He has been on the entry team for nine years and has been involved in the planning and execution of hundreds of tactical operations. Rick also teaches at the police departments training academy as a defensive tactics and firearms instructor.

Rick holds instructor certifications in the following:

- CSAT Tactical Pistol
- NRA Patrol Rifle
- ALERRT Instructor
- H&K Sub-Gun Instructor
- Simunition Instructor
- TCLEOSE Firearms instructor
- TCLEOSE Instructor

Rick also served as a regional director of training for the TEXAS TACTICAL POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION. He has personally been involved in the coordination and training of hundreds of tactical officers from Texas and the United states.

 
Course Topics:
Class will include the following topics: Shooting fundamentals, Shooting positions, Weapon maintenance, Use of slings, Qualification, Low-light, Weapon retention, History and theory, Out of position shooting, Deploy from vehicle, Moving targets, Moving and shooting, Shooting from contact to 300', Diagnosing shooting issues, Run a line, Safety, and Planning 
 
Prerequisites
Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide agency ID on the first day of class.
 
Required Equipment
Semi-Auto rifle w/ 1000 rds ammo, 3 mags for rifle and pistol, Pistol with duty rig w/100 rds ammo, Sling, Flashlight or weapon mounted light, Gas mask, Elbow and knee pads, Eye and ear protection, All weather clothing, Note taking material, Cleaning equipment, Water and food
 
Payment Instructions/Host Hotel Information:

The fee for the course is $450 for TTPOA members and for non-members.  Registration must be done on-line at http://www.ttpoa.org/  (Training Calendar). Payment should be made to TTPOA.  Credit card payment is strongly recommended.  Payments(checks)should be mailed to: Graham Smith, 5992 Riverside Dr., Irving, Texas 75039Inquiries regarding the course, payment or other questions can be directed to gsmith@ttpoa.org or 817-825-2712.  All fees are due by August 20th, 2008. There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date.  

Class size is limited and payment must be received to reserve a slot.
