Course Details:

The Texas Tactical Police Officers Association in conjunction with the Garland SWAT team will be conducting a three day Advanced Tactical Pistol and Rifle course.

INSTRUCTOR:  Dan Colasanto graduated from the United States Military Academy and served in the United States Army for four years before joining the Garland Police Department in 1992. Dan has served in the Patrol Division, Gang Unit, and Narcotics. He has been on the Garland Police Department S.W.A.T. Team for 15 years where he has served on the assault team as a rear guard and point man before being moved to Team Leader. Dan has been a Firearms Instructor with the department for 17 years. He has been an adjunct instructor for the Mid - South Institute of Self Defense Shooting for 5 years where he has trained local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel as well as United states Army, Navy, and Air Force Special Operations Personnel.

Details: The first day of class will be Wednesday 03/3/2010 and will start at 0800 hrs at the Garland Police Firearms Range located  13835 CR 489 Nevada, Tx. 
 
Course Topics:
High ready position for pistol and rifle, reloads, multiple shots, multiple shots on multiple targets, moving and shooting, transition drills (stationary and moving), gas mask shooting, strong and weak hand shooting.
 
Prerequisites

Must be a peace officer or active duty military in good standing with agency. All students will be required to show agency ID on the first day of class.

 
Required Equipment
Pistol with 3 magazines, belt, magazine pouches and 750 rounds of pistol ammunition. Long gun with tactical sling, 3 magazines and 750 rounds of ammunition. Eye and ear protection, body armor, helmet, gas mask, elbow pads, knee pads and any other tactical gear you would wear on a call out.
 
Payment Instructions/Host Hotel Information:

The fee for the course is $200 for TTPOA members and $250 for non-members.  Registration must be done on-line at http://www.ttpoa.org/  (Training Calendar). Payment should be made to TTPOA.  Credit card payment is strongly recommended.  Payments(checks)should be mailed to: Graham Smith, 5992 Riverside Dr., Irving, Texas 75039Inquiries regarding the course, payment or other questions can be directed to gsmith@ttpoa.org or 817-825-2712. All fees are due by Feb. 26rd, 2010. There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date.
