Basic SWAT Course

Course Details:

The TTPOA announces that we will conduct a six-day (60-hour) BASIC SWAT SCHOOL in Brownsville, Texas. This school will be taught by the SWAT/TTPOA Instructors from SWAT Teams in the Brownsville area.

This class will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercises at various venue sites in the Brownsville area.

 
Course Topics:
The curriculum will include, but is not limited to:

 SWAT HISTORY/ LEGAL ISSUES TEAM MOVEMENT
 SWAT EQUIPMENT/ WEAPON SELECTION PHYSICAL FITNESS/WELLNESS
 COMMAND POST OPERATIONS TEAM BUILDING SKILLS
 INTELLIGENCE GATHERING COVERT & DYNAMIC ENTRIES
 TACTICAL HANDGUN/RIFLE VEHICLE/BUS ASSAULT
 TACTICAL PLANNING LESS LETHAL DEVICES & CHEMICAL AGENTS

 
Prerequisites
Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide agency ID on the first day of class. There will be a pass/fail physical assessment the morning of the first day of class. Students should show up for class in PT gear --bring clothes to change after. Students failing the physical assessment will not be allowed to stay in the class. The PT test is the Cooper "Single Cut-Point" standard: 1.5 mile run in 16:28, 300 meter run in 1:11, 25 push-ups in 1 Minute, 29 sit-ups in 1 minute.
 
Required Equipment

Students will need all normal tactical gear, including ballistic helmet, BDU or similar tactical uniform, boots, body armor, gas mask, flash light, eye & ear protection, hydration system, PT gear, note taking gear, handgun and tactical rig, shoulder fired weapon with sling (M16, AR-15, MP5) two extra magazines, 400 rounds handgun and 400 round long rifle ammo, Weapon Cleaning gear; course manual will be provided. You will be required to provide transportation for you and your gear to different training site in and around the Brownsville area.

 
Payment Instructions/Host Hotel Information:

The fee for the course is $300 TTPOA members/ $350 non-members.  Payment by credit card on website is strongly recommended or contact ddeleon@cob.us  if needing to pay by check (Make check payable to TTPOA).  All fees are due by March 12, 2010. There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date. Class size is limited and payment must be received to reserve a slot
