Basic SWAT

Course Details:
  The TTPOA in conjunction with Tyler Police Department announces that we will sponsor a 60 hour Basic SWAT Course in Tyler, TX. This class will prepare the new SWAT officer to integrate into their tactical unit.   
 
Course Topics:
 

  This class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: SWAT history and development, liability issues, physical fitness/wellness, SWAT equipment/weapons selection, intelligence gathering, team movements, barricaded persons, hazardous warrants, emotionally disturbed persons, vehicle and linear assaults, less-than-lethal applications, diversionary devices, and chemical agents.

 
Prerequisites
 

Students must be certified peace officers or active military personnel, in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide agency ID on the first day of class. There will be a physical evaluation on the first day of class. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The PT test is the Cooper "Single Cut-Point" standard: 1.5 mile run in 16:28, 300 meter run in 1:11, 25 push-ups in 1 Minute, 29 sit-ups in 1 minute. (This is a TTPOA standard required of all students. Any student failing to meet the standard is dismissed from class, day one.)

 
Required Equipment
 

All Tactical gear, to include helmet, body armor, BDU or similar tactical uniform, gas mask, flash light, eyes, ears, rifle, and handgun with holster.   Rifle must have a sling.  Simunition rifle and pistol, sims protective gear to include mask/helmet and groin protection (simunition ammunition will be provided).  Bring water and inclement weather gear.  Manuals will be provided. 

You will need 400 rounds of handgun ammunition and 400 rounds of long gun ammunition.

 
Payment Instructions/Host Hotel Information:
 

Students will report to the Tyler Police Department gun range (2811 Public Road, Tyler, Texas 75702) Sunday June 6th, at 1400 hrs for PT Testing. Classroom lectures will follow.

Online Registration Only.   The fee for the course is $400 member $450 non-member. All fees are due by June 1st, 2010. There will be no refunds for cancellations after June 1st, 2010.
