In an effort to provide some guidance in improving the professionalism and proficiency of SWAT teams, the TTPOA developed a Suggested SWAT Best Practices program. more.......

In order to continue to elevate the professionalism of the SWAT industry in the State of Texas, the TTPOA desires to provide SWAT Teams with constructive feedback on the status of their team/unit by conducting on-site assessments/inspection.

Les Early Scholarship

We are taking applications for the 2008 Les Early Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship is available to dependents of TTPOA members.

The amount of the scholarship is $500 per semester, for up to 4 years.

The application deadline will be April 1, 2008.

Please include your Tax return showing household income only and last years school transcripts.


The next scholarship recipient will be announced at the 2008 Annual Conference in Austin.

The 2005 Les Early Memorial scholarship recipient was Dan H. Severn III from College Station, Texas. Dan Severn’s father is Dan Severn who is assigned to the College Station P.D. SWAT team.

The 2004 Les Early Memorial scholarship recipient was Kasey Flynt from Humble, Texas. Kasey’s father is Mike Flynt who is assigned to the Humble P.D. SWAT team.

The 2003 Les Early Memorial scholarship recipient was Megan Hershey from Houston. Hershey’s father is Paul Hershey who is assigned to the Houston P.D. SWAT team.

The 2002 Les Early Memorial scholarship recipient was Natalie Weems from Abilene. Weems’s father is Lt. Tracy Weems who was the Entry Team Leader for the Abilene P.D. SWAT team.

The 2001 Les Early Memorial scholarship recipient was William J. Franklin from Lubbock. William's father is Randy Franklin who is the Commander of the Lubbock P.D. SWAT team.

Congratulations  William J. Franklin, Natalie Weems, Megan Hershey, Kasey Flint, and Dan Severn.
