Course Overview

 The CQB Fundamentals Course provides essential Simunition-based training in close-quarters battle, focusing on 2- to 4-man room clearing techniques. This course mirrors elite SOF CQB principles , emphasizing realistic scenarios to reinforce tactical efficiency and decision-making under stress.

Instruction prioritizes safety, discipline, and tactical execution, ensuring participants leave with a solid grasp of CQB principles, individual responsibilities in room clearing, and team coordination. This course serves as the foundation for advanced CQB training, Active Shooter Response, and other high-level tactical disciplines.

Course Prerequisites

Participants must demonstrate safe and competent weapons handling and be able to perform the following unaided:

        Maintain safety, trigger discipline, and muzzle awareness at all times

        Load, unload, and reload efficiently

        Correct basic weapon stoppages

        Show consistent groupings without major errors

Required Equipment

This course uses Simunition-based training, requiring specific protective gear. Students must bring:

        Gloves

        Rifle (Sims Bolt)

        4 magazines (450rds Sims)

        Pistol (Sims Bolt)

        3 Pistol Magazines (150rds Sims)

        Rifle Sling

        CCO (Close combat Optic)

        Eye & Ear Protection

        Body Armor with Plates

        Tactical Duty Uniform

        Hydration Capability (Water Bottle or Camelbak Bladder)

        Weapon Cleaning Kit & Lubrication

        Inclement Weather Gear (Rain/Cold)

Ed dedicated over 21 years to the U.S. Army, culminating his distinguished career as a Master Sergeant. He began his service with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY. Following his initial deployment to Iraq in 2003, Ed completed the rigorous Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP) and was subsequently assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. During his tenure, he excelled in various roles within the Rifle Assault Squad, including Rifle Squad Leader.

Ed’s exemplary performance led to his selection as the 1/75 Recce Team Leader and Recce Platoon Sergeant. In 2011, he transitioned to the Regimental Special Troops Battalion (RSTB), 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served as the Small Unit Ranger Tactics Instructor, training all Ranger School candidates within the regiment. Additionally, Ed was a key member of the Ranger Assessment and Selection Cadre, responsible for physically preparing hundreds of candidates for the 75th Ranger Regiment.

In 2014, Ed achieved a significant milestone by being selected for the elite Special Missions Unit (SMU) at Fort Liberty. Throughout his career, Ed amassed extensive combat experience with multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, participating in numerous raids and combat missions. Within the SMU, he held several critical positions, including Assaulter, Assault Explosive Breacher, Sniper Team Member, and Senior Enlisted Tactical Advisor

SENIOR TACTICAL INSTRUCTOR

Rick Lofton dedicated over 25 years to the U.S. Army, culminating his distinguished career as a Sergeant Major. He began his military journey with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg), NC. Driven by ambition, Rick volunteered for the U.S. Special Forces, becoming a “Green Beret.” He served as a combat diver with the 1st Special Forces Group at Ft. Lewis, WA, before being selected for the elite Special Missions Unit (SMU) at Ft. Liberty, where he served for sixteen years.

Within the SMU, Rick excelled in various training roles, significantly shaping the unit’s operational capabilities. He served as an Operator Training Course Instructor, where he was responsible for developing and delivering advanced training programs to prepare operators for high-stakes missions. His expertise in combat tactics and leadership was instrumental in his role as Operations Training Sergeant Major.

Rick’s extensive combat experience includes numerous deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, participating in over 450 combat assaults and three real-world hostage rescue missions. His leadership and training acumen were pivotal in preparing his team for these challenging operations.
