The TTPOA and Dallas SWAT is hosting a Tactical  Rappel Master Course to start on March 18 , 2019 at the DPD SWAT range located at 3200 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas TX 75236. Students will learn Team selection -Equipment  -Descending -lead climbing  -ascending -rescues (self/buddy) -Tactical Equipment  -Entry techniques -Anchor points -Perimeter positions online -knots -high angle team for suicidal jumper/ Team fast rope (if time permits) . This course is $500.00 for TTPOA Members. Prerequisites for attending are Current SWAT Operator, and must have successfully completed an Basic and  Advanced Rappel School.

BDU style Uniform



Rappel Seat / Harness

3 Carabiners (Auto Lock or Screw Gate)

Descending Device (Rescue 8, GriGri, Petzl Stop, etc)

20ft of 7mm or 8mm Cordage

Water/ Snacks







Keith Rieg is a 27 year veteran of DPD and a 19 year member of Dallas SWAT.  He has over 30 years of climbing and rappeling experience.  Rieg is a rappel instructor and firearm instructor.  


Todd Stratman is a 28 year veteran of DPD and a 14 year member of Dallas SWAT.  He has 14 years of rappel experience and is a tactical rappel instructor along with being a firearm instructor.


Daniel Canete has been a police officer with the Dallas Police Department for twelve years, and been a member of Dallas SWAT for four years where he serves as a breacher and an entry operator.  Prior to SWAT, Canete worked Southeast Patrol, CRT - a uniformed task-force, and undercover narcotics.  He holds certifications in Master Rappel and as a Master Breacher.  Canete also has over 22 years of experience of rock and alpine climbing from past careers as a professional climber and rock-climbing guide in various regions of the U.S. 


Registration must be done on-line.Payment should be made to TTPOA.  Credit card payment is strongly recommended.  Payments(checks)should be mailed to: Brandon Hernandez, 1891 Forest Lane, Garland, Texas 75042. Inquiries regarding the course, payment or other questions can be directed to  hernandezb@garlandtx.gov.   All fees are due by 3/15/15.  There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date.
