This course is offered to any law enforcement officer who wants to improve their pistol and rifle skills. If you consider yourself a basic, intermediate or advanced shooter, you will get something valuable from this class.

This course will take you through the fundamentals of shooting to combat level shooting in this intensive three day course. During the combat level shooting the shooter will work through dynamic tempo change drills, contact drills, shoot on the move vs. shoot move shoot, utilization of cover/concealment, alternate shooting positions and "low light drills".


COST: $300 per student


Registration must be done on-line.Payment should be made to TTPOA. Credit card payment is strongly recommended. There will be no refunds for cancellations after that date.



1. Handgun with weapon-mounted light

3. Firearms related equipment (holsters, magazines, magazine pouches, Soft Armor)

5. Ammunition For Live Fire: 1000 Pistol per person 200 Rifle per person


Monday: Handgun review and support functions

Handgun assessment and training (Fundamental) Loading, Press Checking and Un-Loading. Stance/Position, Grip, Sight Alignment, Sight Picture, Breathing, Trigger Control, Follow Through and all supporting drills to facilitate acceptable combat accuracy from contact through extended ranges.

Tuesday: Delayed Report time! Handgun training (Dynamic) Tempo change drill, Contact drills (Front, Left, Right and Rear) Shoot on the move vs. Shoot move shoot, utilization of cover and concealment, alternate shooting positions **Low light portion from 20:30 to 23:00

Wednesday: Incapacitated shooter drills, Officer down/recovery drills

 Intro to Patrol Rifle (compressed instruction block), Function check, Loading/Un-loading, Fundamental manipulations and positions…..


KSA Combatives

Billy Smith

Billy Smith owner and lead instructor of KSA Combatives started his professional gun handling career at the age of 17 after joining the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1993 (11 Bravo / Air Assault). Upon completing his enlistment in 1999 he began shooting competitively in USPSA/3-Gun/ Steel Challenge where he has won numerous local, state and regional titles. Billy truly enjoyed competing but always excelled at and loved training local law enforcement in modern methods of shooting a handgun, shotgun and M-16 and AK style rifles.

 While using his GI Bill for college Billy was hired by The Defensive Shooting Academy of Tulsa (part time) and became the senior instructor within 3 years and is still active by teaching and consulting. In 2002 he began his career with the U.S. Department of Energy and earned a full time position in the firearms branch by 2003.

Since 2001 Billy has trained thousands of civilian, Law Enforcement (City, County, State and Federal), OGA and DoD (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines) in use of small arms, advanced weapon systems, tactics (Mounted, dismounted, rural, urban and CQB) etc. Billy is a 16 year employee and senior instructor (contractor) for the U.S. Department of Energy where he assures instructor standards on teaching and shooting capabilities; while continuing to provide relevant and challenging shooting courses for the DOE Federal Agent force.
