Brief Course Description:

Medalist Fitness™ developed the Advanced Tactical Athlete Strength & Conditioning (A-TASC)™ curriculum to help tactical professionals achieve exceptional physical and mental performance to successfully meet the extreme demands of their duties. We design each participant’s conditioning program with a keen consideration to the participant’s needs in:

1.       Physiologic performance development

2.       Anatomical and body composition attributes

3.       Biomechanical optimization

4.       Nutrition

5.       Injury recovery and prevention

6.       Mental performance

Preliminary Course Outline

Morning 8:00 AM-12:00 PM

Afternoon (1:00PM-5:00 PM)

Day 1

Fundamentals of Conditioning for Tactical Operations

1. Exercise program design to meet the physiologic demands of tactical operations

2. How anatomical attributes can influence exercise biomechanics and exercise selection for optimal benefits for each tactical athlete

3. Strategies for recovering from and preventing injuries of tactical professionals

Exercise Session – Lower Body Resistance Training

1:00-1:30 Review of planned workout

1:30-2:00 Instructor led warm-up and stretch

2:00-3:30 Resistance Training Session

3:30-3:50 Nutrition replenishment

3:50-4:50 Recovery session (instructor led)

Day 2

Optimizing Tactical Conditioning Part I

1. Proper use of alternative training modes (e.g. rings, rope climb, etc.) to improve strength, power and mobility

2. How to run fast, efficient and injury free

Exercise Session – Upper Body and Core

1:00-1:30 Review of planned workout

1:30-2:00 Instructor led warm-up and stretch

2:00-3:30 Resistance Training Session

3:30-3:50 Nutrition replenishment

3:50-4:50 Recovery session (instructor led)

Day 3

Optimizing Tactical Conditioning Part II

1. Fundamentals Nutrition

2. Recognizing and effective recovery techniques from common injuries of tactical athletes

3. Running drills

Exercise Session – Lower Body Plyometrics

1:00-1:30 Review of planned workout

1:30-2:00 Instructor led warm-up and stretch

2:00-3:30 Resistance Training Session

3:30-3:50 Nutrition replenishment

3:50-4:50 Recovery session (instructor led)

 

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course. However, all participants must not be medically prohibited from engaging in physical exercise programs.

 

Required equipment:

1.       TTPOA/Host Agency will need to provide a exercise facility equipped with resistance and aerobic training equipment

2.       All participants should arrive with appropriate active wear, towel, food and water for high intensity training curriculum.

Instructor Biography

Lealem worked at NASA as a Lead Scientist where he directed a highly multidisciplinary team of experts to develop and apply novel technologies to customize exercise training programs for astronauts.  He also collaborated with the NIH, FDA, DoD, DARPA and several other governmental, academic and private institutions to translate his unique technical expertise to enable precision healthcare and enhance the safety and performance of uniform personnel. Lealem is also an active gymnast, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Mental Coach (CMC) and USA Gymnastics Coach.

Medalist Fitness™ to translate his many years of experience in spaceflight, biomedical research, engineering, athletics and peak performance coaching to develop and administer individualized training programs for active and aspiring athletes, tactical professionals, and astronauts. He developed the Advanced Tactical Athlete Strength & Conditioning (A-TASC)™ curriculum to specifically help tactical professionals achieve exceptional physical and mental performance to successfully meet the extreme demands of their duties. One of his clients who successfully graduated from US Marine Corps Officer Candidate School after going through the A-TASC™ training program noted, "Lealem, unlike any Sports Performance Coach in the world, has the unprecedented ability to integrate an extensive knowledge of the human body, achieved through numerous years of higher education and in-depth studies as a Scientist at NASA, with a dedicated and genuine commitment for his clients to succeed.
