This 60 hour TCOLE credit class will focus on the basic understanding of the History of SWAT, Case Law & Liability, Command Post Operations, Team Structure, Marksman Responsibilities, Entries, Warrant/Tactical Planning, Breaching, Exposure to Chemical Agents and several practical exercises that will be conducted in different areas in and around Brownsville, Texas. This class will be hands on and will require physical exertion during team building exercises conducted first thing every morning.

2020 TTPOA Basic SWAT School

 

Course Details:

 

The TTPOA in conjuction with the Brownsville Police Department SWAT team will conduct a six day (60 hour TCOLE credit) Basic SWAT school in Brownsville, Tx from October 11, 2020 thru October 16, 2020.  The class will be taught by a cadre of Brownsville PD SWAT and Cameron County Sheriff's Office SWAT team instructors.  The class will start at 7:00 am on Sunday, October 11th at the Brownsville Police Department (600 E. Jackson Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520).  Students will need to provide transportation to and from different training sites in and around the Brownsville area.

 

Course Topics:

 

This class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: History of SWAT, team organization and structure, case study and liability, command post operations, marksmanship responsibilities, entries, warrant and tactical planning, introduction to breaching, firearms, chemical agents, less-lethal options.  This class will be hands on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercises at various venues in and around the Brownsville area.

 

Prerequisites

 

Students mus be a certified peace officer or active military personnel in good standing with their agency.  Students must be able to provide an agency ID on the first day of class.

 

There will be a pass/fail physical assessment the morning of the first day of class.  The PT assessment will be based on the Cooper "Single Cut Point" standard 1.5 mile run (under 16:28) 300 mm run (under 1:11) 25 push ups within one minute, 29 sit ups within one minute.

 

Students who fail the PT assessment WILL NOT be allowed to remain in the class and WILL NOT be refunded their tuition.

 

Required Equipment

 

BDU or other similar uniform, tactical boots, PT gear and running shoes, long sleeve shirt, gloves, helmet, tactical vest, gas mask, body armor, eye and ear protection, pistol w/3 magazines, rifle w/3 magazines, pen and paper for note taking, 800 pistol rounds, 800 rifle rounds

 

Force on Force exercises will be conducted so you will need a SIM pistol and a blue bolt for your rifle.  (Brownsville PD and TTPOA will  have SOME to loan out but may not have enough for everyone.  student must provide 50 rounds of marking cartridge rounds for pistol and rifle as well.

 

snacks, water and bug spray is highly recommended.

 

Payment Instruction:
