2019 TTPOA Basic SWAT School This 60 hour TCOLE credit class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: historical overview of SWAT, leadership, team organization and structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, warrant planning, structure clearing, chemical agents, less-lethal options, firearms and breaching. The class will be hands-on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercise at various venues in the DFW area.

All applicants for the Basic SWAT scheduled for 11/11-15/2019 in McKinney, Texas:

 

 

1. The class location has changed to : McKinney Police Department, 2200 Taylor-Burk Drive, McKinney, Texas 75071

 

2. Times will be: 7 AM to 7 PM each day. Realize those times are flexible based on the needs of the class.

 

3. There will not be an initial PT Test on day 1. Please arrive wearing appropriate clothing for a classroom setting for Monday 11/11/19 (7AM).

 

4. Equipment needed:

            BDU/Tactical Uniform/Boots

            Ballistic vest/plate carrier/belt/helmet

            AR style rifle/ sling w/ 500 rounds

            Pistol w/ 500 rounds

            Gas mask and filter

            eye and ear protection

            50 rounds of Simunition

            Simuntion protective gear (if available)

            Any other tactical gear you would typically wear on your team

            Pen/paper, note taking capability

            Lunch is set for one hour each day. Each training day is 12 hours.  It is recommended to bring a small cooler with drinks and snacks for yourself.

 

 

 

The TTPOA in conjunction with numerous area SWAT teams will conduct a 5 day (60 hour TCOLE credit) Basic SWAT Course in the DFW area from November 11th – 15th, 2019. The class will be taught by a cadre of SWAT team instructors from the DFW area.

The class will start at 0700 hours on Monday, November 11th, 2019 at the McKinney Police Department, 2200 Taylor Burk Drive, McKinney, Texas 75071. Students will need to provide transportation to and from different training sites in the DFW area.Be prepared to be at training until 7:00 PM daily.

Students will need to be prepared for five long training days with various start and end times.

 

Course Topics:

 

This class will focus on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including: historical overview of SWAT, leadership, team organization and structure, resolution of barricaded suspect situations, warrant planning, structure clearing, chemical agents, less-lethal options, firearms and breaching. The class will be hands-on and will require physical exertion and many hours of practical exercise at various venues in the DFW area.

 

Prerequisites:

 

Students must be certified peace officers in good standing with their agency. Students must be able to provide an agency ID on the first day of class.

 

Each student will be evaluated throughout the course regarding key points such as safety and critical thinking skills.

  

Payment Instructions:

 

The fee for the course is $400. All fees are due by October 28, 2019 and there will be no refunds for cancellations after this date. Class size is limited and all registrations should be completed online. We recommend all payments be completed online during registration.
