REDBACK ONE 3-Day  Advanced  Pistol  &  Rifle  Course (Law  Enforcement  Only)

 

    This  course  of  instruction  has  been  developed  to  increase  officer  safety,  survivability  and  lethality  with  the duty  pistol  and  rifle.  At  the  completion  of  this  course  of  instruction,  students  will  have  obtained  the knowledge,  skills  and  attitudes  necessary  to  safely  and  competently  employ  the  duty  pistol  and  rifle  during advanced  operational  activities.  

    Overview:   This  demanding  and  fast-paced  course  is  taught  is  a  progressive  manner  and  commences  on  the  first  day with  advanced  pistol  skills.  This  module  is  conducted  in  isolation  in  order  to  increase  proficiency  in  weapons handling  techniques,  procedures  and  marksmanship  with  the  duty  handgun  before  integrating  the  rifle.   Training  will  then  progress  on  day  two  with  lessons  that  integrate  both  pistol  and  rifle.  This  block  of instruction  has  been  designed  to  enhance  skill  sets  in  close  quarters  combat  shooting  and  develop  weapons handling  skills  through  the  application  of  the  Redback  One  Combat  Shooting  System.   Training  day  three  focuses  on  urban  shooting  skills  where  students  will  learn  how  to  increase  first  round  hit probability  from  distances  of  25-100  yards,  utilize  cover  effectively,  identify  and  correct  weapons stoppages,  employ  various  common  and  uncommon  firing  positions  using  both  supported  and  unsupported techniques  Students  will  be  taught  how  to  engage  targets  and  perform  rifle  to  pistol  transitions  and  combat reloads  using  the  non-preferred  side  of  their  body  to  minimize  exposure  around  off  side  cover.  The  final  day will  culminate  with  students  participating  in  a  dynamic,  lateral  bounding  exercise  that  will  enable  them  to shoot,  move  and  communicate  and  rehearse  many  of  the  competencies  learnt  throughout  the  course.   Assessment: Students  will  be  assessed  throughout  the  course  on  multiple  aspects  of  combat  marksmanship.  Redback  One cadre  will  use  a  series  of  combat  shooting  standards  that  to  measure  individual  performance  during  each block  of  instruction.  Assessments  will  include  drills  to  measure  student  speed,  weapons  handling  efficiency and  shot  placement.  Assessment  results  will  allow  Redback  One  staff  to  provide  critical  feedback  and accurately  measure  student  performance.

Pre-Requisites: •  Full  Time  Law  Enforcement  Officer   •  Basic  Pistol  Course •  Basic  Carbine  Course Combat  Training  Systems

Equipment  Requirements:   •  Rifle  with  Sling  and  Combat  Optic •  5 Rifle  Magazines  &  magazine  Carriers •  Pistol  and  holster  with  belt •  3 Pistol  Magazines  &  magazine  pouches •  Eye and  Ear  Protection •  Appropriate  Range  Attire •  Hydration  Source Ammunition  Requirements: •  Carbine:  1000  rounds   •  Pistol:  750  rounds.

 

 

     Lead  Instructor  -  Jason  Falla  (SASR) Jason  is  a  decorated  combat  veteran  of  the  Australian  Defense  Force  who  served  12  years  in  Army  Special Operations  Command.  Jason’s  service  included  six  years  as  an  assault  platoon  member  with  the  Commando Regiment  and  six  years  of  service  with  Australia’s  Special  Missions  Unit,  1st  Special  Air  Service  Regiment (SASR).  During  his  military  career,  Jason  spent  over  22  months  overseas  on  deployment  including  combat tours  of  East  Timor,  Afghanistan  and  Iraq.   Jason  is  a  subject  matter  expert  in  combat  shooting,  CQB,  special  operations  roping,  climbing  and  mountain warfare  as  well  as  vehicle  mounted  mobility  and  maritime  operations.   Jason  has  extensive  experience  in  counter  terrorist  and  was  a  qualified  assaulter  and  team  2IC  on  the National  Counter  Terrorist  team  as  well  as  a  member  of  an  SAS  patrol  within  a  water  operations  troop. Jason’s  expertise  includes  land-based  hostage  rescue,  special  operations  medicine,  counter  terrorist  driving, strategic  long-range  surveillance  and  reconnaissance,  vehicle  mobility,  heavy  weapons,  CBRN  CQB, maritime  counter  terrorism  including;  subsurface  approach,  ship  attack,  ship  underway  recovery,  G&O platform  recovery  and  aircraft  assault  and  recovery. Jason  has  deployed  on  several  Regional  Assistance  Missions  that  include  deployments  to  the  Solomon Islands  and  Papua  New  Guinea  as  well  as  Joint  Combined  Exchange Training  with  Malaysia  Special  Forces, Thai  Special  Forces,  Papua  New  Guinea  PNGDF,  Philippines  special  forces,  United  Kingdom  SBS  and Norwegian  MJK. Jason  holds  formal  qualifications  as  a  military  instructor  including  qualifications  in  leadership, communication,  the  conduct  of  training  and  assessing  student  performance.  Jason  has  extensive  experience conducting  reality-based  training  scenarios  utilizing  live  ammunition,  FX  non-lethal  man  marking  cartridges
and  roll  player  integration.
