You will be provided with the proper tools in which to apply your craft and to better assess and understand the when, the how and the why of “Suicidal Jumpers.” A Suicidal Jumper Rescue member will be the primary element assigned to the security and safety of all people involved. With the distinct possibility of a rescue in this situation, they will work hand-in-hand with the negotiators, SWAT operators, patrol officers and supervisors.

The class will utilize classroom discussion; video and incident debriefs to open up a format to understand the abilities of a rescue operation when negotiations do not produce the desired outcome. Multiple scenarios, based on real-life operations, will be used to enhance the learning objectives.Each officer position and/or team will be defined and tasked with their specific role. Prospective students will be involved in the following categories: Suicidal Jumper Rescue Officer; Negotiator; Suicidal Jumper; Operational Cell member; Mobile and Structural anchor team member; Rappel Gear,Tactical Gear and Personal Equipment team member.Suicidal Jumper Rescue operators are a rare breed, utilizing specific skills that most people typically fear on a daily basis. When dealing with a suicidal jumper it is not unusual for the Fire Department to not attend to the jumper due to the potential danger therein.


  If you are interested and do not have rappel gear, please notify the coordinator for assistance. There is a limited supply of available gear that can be used.


COST: $250


Payment Instructions:

The fee for the course is $250. All fees are due by December 4, 2019 and there will be no refunds for cancellations after this date. Class size is limited and all registrations should be completed online. We recommend all payments be completed online during registration.
